One of my favorite areas for September wedding assignments has long been Cape Cod. I was honored to be hired by a Florida family to come to Martha’s Vineyard (where they also have a summer residence) for the wedding of their beautiful daughter to her Texas groom.
Our weekend assignment began with the rehearsal of the ceremony at the planned outdoor location that was later changed because of weather. A seated indoor and outdoor rehearsal dinner followed at Atria.
On wedding day, we documented preparations of the bride and her attendants at her family home and dispatched another team photographer to shadow the groom and his groomsmen at their hotel. The ceremony was held at Old Whaling Church, a handsome Greek Revival church in Edgartown that I have photographed at other wedding assignments. I loved the expressive recession by the newlyweds being showered with flower petals as they came down the aisle. A festive tent served as the reception venue at The Field Club for dinner and an evening of dancing. We ended this weekend assignment the next day with coverage of a nautical themed farewell brunch at The Boathouse.
