After the bride-to-be heard about me and saw an album of wedding photographs I made for her fellow New Yorker friend at the Ocean Club in The Bahamas, she sought me out to photograph her own island wedding. Because the bride’s parents maintained a home there and guests were traveling from Korea, Japan, Thailand, and across the United States, Maui was right at the crossroads for the festivities.
The first part of my assignment was in New York where I photographed this stunning bride with her mother at the bridal salon for a gown fitting. I was also commissioned to cover all of the events over their wedding weekend including an outdoor torch-lit rehearsal dinner and even a couple of Asian wedding traditions that honored their family cultures.
Molokini Lookout at sunset is one of the most peaceful vistas in all of Maui and it proved to be an idyllic setting for their exquisite ceremony. I love the expressive faces of this photogenic couple and of their families which gave clear evidence of an abundance of love and happiness. The sophisticated ballrooms of the Grand Wailea Resort and the impeccable service made for a world-class wedding reception.
All-in-all, I was honored to come to Hawaii to document the many warm moments of this picturesque celebration.
